oil seepage from block

I changed my spark plugs today and found:

a, there is sealant inside that is coming away, and

b, oil on the spark plugs (which is why I think the engine was missing sometimes)

There is also seepage and sealant on the front, looks like the seal nearest the top

After a bit of a google I found this may not be anything to be majorly concerned about as the seal has probably just gone

My question is; how hard would it be to change the duff seal for a new one? I'm not that experienced but have done outer CVs, discs and pads, and now spark plugs... I'm up for a challenge!!

Please discuss!

Is this on the 180, cos the last time I did my plugs I noticed a small amount of oil at the bottom of number two recess. I will follow this with interest.

nope, 1.6

Looks like the previous owner decided he would just use sealant instead of changing the gasket - I think it is probably time for that gasket to be changed!

On the plus side, car pulls better after swapping spark plugs!
