Exhaust squeal.

When I got the car it was making a loud squeal when gassing it, I was worried it was gearbox/engine/clutch related but upon having the centre section of the exhaust replaced it went away.

I've today had the cat section replaced and the loud squeal is back.

I'm guessing one of the joins is slightly misaligned creating a small airgap and its squealing like a kettle.

:(

It works like an old kettle or a whistle, a very small hole with air/exhaust gasses forced through it.

If you find the turbo Matt, post some pics ta :)

I guess yours is a diesel (due to the turbo posts)

I have had EGR valve exhaust feed pipes leak and these give a very strange noise (due to the small diameter of the pipe)

Maybe worth a quick look
