I'm going to use expoxy putty to stick the brass nuts back onto the plastic handle. ... interesting on the second thread -Matleser just bonded the "hole" using gasket sealant !!!!!
So ....
Would you put the metal security back plate back on?
Would you also put putty between the metal security back plate and the door handle - in effect bonding the handle to the plate?

Any tips on getting a 10 spanner round the nut (nearest to the boot) ... looks like a nightmare !!!!

Cheers

I never bothered refitting the security shield.

I wouldn't bond the handle to the door skin.

To get at the 10mm nut there is a hole in the frame which allows access with a socket and extension iirc.

Thanks for the reply Pete ....What did you use for the bond? Looks like there are a number of epoxy brands - got any rec's?

I used a new handle, so didn't bother with bonding the inserts, but I've seen a few different things mentioned, Milliput which is a 2 part epoxy has been used successfully, also Double Bond which is another 2 part putty type filler.

Something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Milliput-E...item2576595234

Right ... I've got a bit of a problem .... I've milliputted the handle, but I've "lost" one of the handle retaining bolts - the ones that screw into the brass nut !!!!
Can I get one from somewhere else in these car? Or do I need to get a replacement, if so, where can I get one?
So at the moment, the hanle is just held on by one of the bolts :(

How do I find out what the size is please?
Might go for a allen key replacemnt, had a nightmare trying to get the socket/spanner behind.

Saw a R45 the other day with one of the rear door handles gaffa tapped on! Wasn't the neatest of repairs!

I've ordered some ...... Got any idea where I might be able to get one from, to use in the meantime - as in easy to access, no impact in moving for a day or so, .... I could really do with getting the handle secured (with two bolts) and the cards on, the kids will most likely pull the handle back off :(
