Belts...

So - Been looking - was very interested in Clive's but it appears to have sold elsewhere.

The other one I'm interested in is very nice but had belts done 10 yr ago. Now I've set my stall out often and wouldn't likely get them done as the cost I find a bit prohibitive to be honest - but I wouldn't avoid it if I thought about keeping it or they hadn't been done at all - but that view has just been reinforced.

£945 quoted by my local garage for belts, water pump and thermostat.

That is half of what the car is up for .... :joker:

Don’t forget there are specialists like MGRover Solutions who would come to you for a lot less. Check on line for others that may be nearer to you.

Cheers fellas -

Yep - saw that Pete - bit better. I've sent a message to see what the cost would be because I'm sure they would add something for coming to me.

There's also the mg mobile mechanics who travel and do belts if you want another quote.

Big increase since I had him do mine 7+ years ago. I’ll be doing it myself along with the cam swap when I get to that part of the project.

Could give this lot a ring see what their price is like.

Good luck.

When the cam belt went on the ZR160 last year (not due on time or mileage! Think my son in law was a bit enthusiastic when he borrowed it after his focus diesel) I got the AA to tow the car down to MJS's garage in Littlehampton.

Mike replaced 4 valves, the cam belt, alternator belt and water pump for £650. His mobile prices are similar,

I have been using him for the best part of 10 years.
