Tyre Sizes
Hi guys can i put 215 width tyres on my mk1 alloys the old tyres are 205?
|
i wouldnt try it! they were designed for one size so personal opinion would say that they could be dangerous
|
i Run 215/45/17s with no probs, but i drive quite slowly over bumps etc
|
The 215 tyres are at the limit for 7J rims. If you intend to use your car on track or for hard cornering you should not fit these tyres as you risk rolling the tyres off the rim.

I run 215/40 proxes on mine with no issues. A plus point being they protect the alloy rim slightly better.

215's are fine as long as you go 40 profile.

I had 215's on mine (the tyre guy said they would be OK) for less than 5 mins. They rubbed at every bump i went over... took them straight back to the guy and told him to take them off and fit 205s.
