Just about change clutch on 180 - any tips?
 

Just about to pull my 180 into the garage for it's clutch change which I've been putting off.

Anyone does this before? Did you leave the gearbox in situ? I have a motorbike stand jack that I can use as a transmission jack.

He only takes on driveshaft out and slides the gearbox enough to just slip the new clutch in, possible on a ZS?

75 / ZT is tighter I reckon and seems doable? Did you remove both shafts and drop the box when you did yours?

Pulled a load of stuff out ready to finish it tomorrow (battery, ecu, brackets etc)

Got the clutch slave out and noticed this on the bracket, is it one piece piece as it looks like it has been welded due to failure in the past?...

I thought then maybe my slave was just at fault as it had a crack in so would save me changing the clutch (due to slipping) but the crack was not in a vital place so think it's back to the clutch again, pic of what I mean...

Well I had the engine out as I was doing a ton of other stuff to it as well but I wouldn't fancy doing it with the gearbox on!

i did the clutch on mine, easy job loads of room to work in but ideally gearbox off, makes it easier for when you line the clutch plate up after,

big big tip, when your box is off, take out your clutch arm and clean up the shaft, ideally to take off the powder coat that is on it, as what happens when a bit of the powder coat wears away the shaft starts to rust and then this expands and makes the clutch arm stick, so what i did on mine was take the powder coat completly off by sanding it and then gave it a light coat of spray paint, and then a nice lubing of grease on the shaft, clutch was lovely then
