KV6 Water in Engine - Help!
So we had some bad weather and due to my daily car having to be leant to a family member I had to take the ZS to work. I got stuck on a small road which had water running across, It wasnt all that deep, i was slowly (1st gear) going through it and it was up to the lip on the front bumper, then all of a sudden the car died about half way across (15 metres in approx). a quick check shows that the air filter has sucked water up, the engine wont even tick over now. have checked spark plugs and they seem fine but there is water at end of dipstick. So has anyone had this problem and what should i do/check now? I am half expecting to need to change engines but thought id ask before giving up all hope. I am thinking if i had put an aftermarket pod filter on i wouldnt of had this problem!
Any advice would be great! |
Change the contaminated oil...... get the car running and drive it for a good few (20 maybe) miles to clear any water out . .... Your Lamba sensor will be contaminated ( is the mil light on?) See if that improves matters...Worse case senario your engine hydraulic locked and bent a con rod or two ...... I,ve even known cylinder liners to crack cos of hydraulic lock

sounds like its hydralocked buddy

take all the spark plugs out and spin it over so all the water pumps out the cylinders, if it was low speed might be okay and not done any damage, then change you oil and try start it with plugs in

driving through standing water is the biggest killer of KV6 engines unfortunately
