Steering wheel head unit controls...help!

Ok, talkingcars said I need to run 2 cables from fuse box (presume under dash one)
Can I not use a loom from a rover 45??

I want the dash back in, but not doing that until radio sorted

Step by step required please, any pics?

A couple of posts from a blog about my cruise control project over on zscentral.com

They looked to be spot on but when I went to fit them in the grey plug atop of the fuse box they were like a fag paper too big.

I then took the other side terminals out of the plug and put each togeather under heat shrink tube.

I then connected the other end as per Chris's photos, connected the autoleads unit and I had steering wheel audio controls, also fitted the DAB/analouge ariel splitter and I now have Planet Rock, BBC7 and talk sport in digital.

Only problem is the bulk of the autoleads gear is making it difficult to locate the head unit so I need to adapt this slightly.

I did all this without removing the dash so if you need to you can put yours back in.

That doesn't make any sense to me :(

This post has pictures of the din plugs for the head unit so you can add them to the plug fitted to the car
http://www.zscentral.com/phpbb/viewt...hp?f=21&t=8027

all you need to do is link this end to the wires that come from the rotery coupler, either at the coupler end or on the grey plug that is to the left and above the main internal fusebox.

This thread will also help

Might leave this to someone that knows what they're doing tbh!

I'm so confused....

Do you have the top cover of the steering column off?
If so you should be able to see a white plug with 6 terminals and 4 wires.
The pink wire and the white wire go down to the fusebox area to a gray plug which is clipped to the top right hand corner of the fuse box.
There will be no corrisponding wires coming out of the front of this plug.
You need to extend these wires from the plug to the radio.
The easiest way to do this is to cut them off the back of the plug, connect them to some new wires and run these to the radio plugs.

With the auto leads adaptor there will be 2 plugs that match the one already fitted to the car.
Follow the instructions suppled with the auto leads adaptor to fit it inbetween the plugs fitted in the car and the socket on the back of your head unit or the plug that comes from the back of the head unit.

This is what I've got, incidentally this has one more wire (orange one) that bluey doesn't have

Anyone willing to do this for a beer??

I've just re-looked at both threads and STILL do not understand exactly where I'm supposed to join into the loom for the stereo??

can somebody use my pic and maybe point it out?
