Hunting for Revs

I had the center section replaced for the second time due an awful Fast Fit centre, and as soon as it had been put on and I drove away the revs (when idle or clutch depressed) are going from around 1100 rpm down to about 300-400 then back again.

This then stopped the next time I drove the car but low and behold it's back again. seems to be sporadic. I had checked and cleaned the Idle Valve not too long ago and made sure it was fitted correctly (as best I know how) and there are no fault codes coming up.

Any Ideas as I am stumped???

Anybody know of anything I can check at all?

Give it another clean and try again if no use the iacv is probably faulty, get down you local scrapper and get one they are normally free. lol.also give the throttle mechanism.a good soak in wd40 as tgis can stick causing some of the same symptoms.

I will have another look mate, something may not be seated right. I'll let you know how I get on. Taking the exhaust to another place this time as it is a new one and I can still hear an annoying rattle at around 1800 rpm.
Which MG/Rovers have the same IAC. Is it a standard part or specific to the v6's?

Thanks for the reply ;)

I found my replacement on a v6 75. But any kv6 will have the same one.

I will have a look but they better not have as that's a fairly new sensor there!

go back to the centre and ask them to put a code reader on it as failing the idle control valve, maf, cam and crank sensors it could only be one of the lambda sensors

KirkJames 30-06-12 08:38 PM

I put my code reader on it and the sensor fault code is not coming up, but it will come up soon anyway as I have a decat. Strangely enough tho the car hasn't done it now for a few days.......random!!
