Question

There's a small black panel on my dash between my pas air bag and my clocks. What is it and what's under it, satnav or something ?

On cars with climate the sun sensor fits in that panel.

I see, seems like a pretty big panel for such a small sensor. Would be a nice place to fit a wee head up display or something. Could be a cool feature

Cheers for that

I've no idea why it's so big either, the sensor is tiny, it could be an access panel for one of the dash fixings I suppose.

I suspect it was originally intended to be used for a vent to match the outlet in the heater box below.

Good call.

If you look at the top of the heater box in the mk2 you'll find that there is an upward facing outlet, the flap is held closed by a blue plastic clip. On the mk1 the flap is operated by a wheel on the dash top grill.

I swear to god, ive yet to ask a question on this forum that no one has an answer for (fantastic). So with that said does that mean i can convert mine to have another vent in the middle of the dash to assist with windscreen de-misting. And if so is it just a case of removing the blue plastic clip and adding the vent pannel ?
