Differences between a ZS 1.6 and 1.8
Apart from the CCs is there any difference? I remember reading somewhere that the suspension on a 1.6 is the same as the Rover and not the MG suspension. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
What other differences are there? Thanks :) |

Visually no exhaust cut out on the rear bumper for the 1.6. Smaller 15'' wheels.

I have a cutout and 16" wheels, but then I also have a 180 front splitter, all was there when I bought it! Mine is a 2001 1.6 and although the service book and old MOTs say it is a 1.6 I understand they didn't make one in those days.... makes me think I actually have a 1.8
Where is the engine number located, I had a look the other day when I removed my rotten exhaust manifold heat shield, but couldn't see it! |
As for suspension all the zs share the same rear shocks and springs irrespective of engine size, for the front suspension the 1.6 & 1.8 use the same shocks and springs.
The 2.5 and diesel also use the same items, none of the springs or shocks are shared with the 45 or 400. |

One other thing is 1.6 has rear drum brakes rather than brake disks on the 1.8.
|
Is the engine number on the V5, if it starts 18K4 you have a 1.8.

Were discs an option on a 1.6 ?. |

Drum brakes also apply to the diesel ZS101 but disk brakes on ZS115. |

When I went to ALS they thought it was a Rover 45 impression when I gave them the reg number! |
