Not good :(

a fair few cases of this, I assume through previous poor maintenance? but it would be good to find out why...

It's an odd one that's for sure, and they've all been the same failure.

It has been suggested that not priming the filter before fitting it may be a possible cause.

Which piston made the bid for freedom?

I always prime the filters. They take a lot to fill them!

1 or 2, as normal.

They don't like it at all!
Wonder if it is an oil rail problem maybe? Or does the bottom end get oil another way?

i always prime the filter no matter how many people tell me that you dont have to!

ive also noticed that quite a few of these bottom end failures have been after a recent service, so makes you wonder?

there was a spate of ZT's having problems with the engine, after a service and oil change.

Must be worth spinning the engine over with a fuse removed to stop it starting, till the oil pressure light goes out.

Yeah, I've always primed the filter, and pulled the fuel pump relay so I can whizz it over on the starter to put the oil light out
