Not good :(
|
a fair few cases of this, I assume through previous poor maintenance? but it would be good to find out why...
|
It's an odd one that's for sure, and they've all been the same failure.
It has been suggested that not priming the filter before fitting it may be a possible cause. |
Which piston made the bid for freedom?
I always prime the filters. They take a lot to fill them! |
1 or 2, as normal.

Wonder if it is an oil rail problem maybe? Or does the bottom end get oil another way? |
i always prime the filter no matter how many people tell me that you dont have to!
ive also noticed that quite a few of these bottom end failures have been after a recent service, so makes you wonder? |
there was a spate of ZT's having problems with the engine, after a service and oil change.
Must be worth spinning the engine over with a fuse removed to stop it starting, till the oil pressure light goes out. |
Yeah, I've always primed the filter, and pulled the fuel pump relay so I can whizz it over on the starter to put the oil light out
