Engine management light

came on, during my drive home from work this afternoon, drives normally, oil full, water full etc.. anyone local to birmingham, solihull area got a scangauge or simular they could plug in and find out whats going on?

Its probably nothing to worry about... Although the only other reason i can think why it might come on even if it still runs ok and all the water / oil are topped up is for emissions????
