Thanks Andy. will try that first as it would save soooooo much time. For a laugh I contacted Arnold sharks for a price to do the timing belt - the reply -
?259 we don't do the water pump if it's ok, only if it's leaking.

So they want to just change the belt and tensioner only for ?259 then if the pump goes they want to take all that off again and change the pump then probably another belt and tensioner? lol ?? go figure?
