Think its quite a common fault, was looking for old threads as I'm sure I have read a "how to" somewhere.

Think the plastic threaded part on the backing plate of the lock comes away. Plastic weld or araldite the cracked bit back, or a nut that takes the screw.

Or another trick is to get handles of a 400 series from the scrap yard as they are stronger.
