I've found my local F1 Autocentre to be excellent. I just got my other half's Clio MOT'd there yesterday, and I always take my cars there.
They also have a "Price Beat" policy, so if you quote any other place reasonably local then they'll book the work in for you at a lower price.
I've never paid more than £26 for an MOT because another local place do them for that, but they charge for a re-test whereas F1 doesn't!
