Winter tyres are generally a softer compound that will cope better in wet conditions. Be careful though because there are a load of cheap nasty tyres out there that will be mostly hopeless unless conditions are perfect for them.

I fitted a set of Barum Bravuris 2 (made by Continental) and noticed a huge improvement. They're actually quite quiet on the road too.

The car was damn near unstopable in the snow lol
