When I picked up my day one MG Maestro through ebay from Nottingham I travelled from Horsham to Victoria for £11.20 by train and then £5 by coach to Nottingham.

When I sold it agian on ebay about a year later the buyer from Chesterfield by coach to Victoria and train to Horsham...........

The only other long distance car purchase was the maestro that is now my T16 and was from Gloucsester, took my MG Montego down to MG John, walked around the corner and collected the maestro, drove out of Gloucester and the rotor arm packed up! Good old RAC sorted it. That was in 2004, still got that one.
