Fitment of a ZR steering wheel to a ZS.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the demise of MGR the first thing to suffer was monogram parts. Loads of ZR stuff is out there so if you want a leather colour s/wheel chances are it will be a ZR unit that will need a bit of work to get it to fit a ZS. At first glance it appears that these two are identical. However the shank that protrudes out of the back of the S/W is about 11mm longer on the ZS than the ZR. To allow the ZR unit to be safe and correctly adjusted a steel spacer will need to be made to make up the difference in shank length. The slot in the end of the shank is cut verticle for the ZR and horizontal for the ZS. The spacer will need to be made to correct this. See pics. When ready to fit tape the part to the S/W to hold it in place whilst fitting. Once the S/W is bolted down this part will be trapped and unable to move.
Dremmel and a vice are only tools needed. You could cut the shank off the old ZS wheel and use that as it would only need half the work, but its your choice.
