This thread but I doubt if this will be of any use however.

The step of the disc can be dressed off as long as the disc thinkness is not below the recommended thickness allowed. I have done this many times myself. However from what shroonie said in another thread that one of the rear pads has an audiable indicator built into the pad when near to its replacement limit, it could be that as I the very same thing happening!
