An ST170?! No way!
I went through a [short] phase before I got the Zed of considering a 170, but in the end they look like a standard focus, have no turbo/are only 2 litres and 4 cylinders, aint as quick as a ZS180, and dont handle any where near as well. The Zed is a much more attractive car, especially with the 180 kit!
He needs a 180 I say, if he wants to upgrade
