It used to be that if the exhaust 'unreasonably loud' it would fail now it is just if it is louder than OE."
I think the wording is something like 'sounds louder than a similar aged car with an OE exhaust in average condition' The way it is worded seems to suggest that it will be done by ear rather than actually measuring the decibels
