The smoke switch idea would actually be pretty easy to do...
There is a "limp mode" map which it goes into if the MAF sensor signal is lost.
All I'd need would be a switch to lose the MAF signal and to change the "MAF-less map" to request loads of fuel, job done
... You've got me thinking now, a dual map might actually be a good idea.
