As far as I remember you should have the option to take the car to a repairer of your choice for a quote and do not have to accept their offer. Have they told you what the repair quote was and what valuation they have put on the car?
I'd be inclined to give the ombudsman a call (0800 023 4567
)to see what their advice is.
