I have had an HID kit in both my Oldsmobile Alero (when I lived in Canada) and have now transferred the set to my Rover 414 when I bought it over 2 years ago and have passed vrt and have never had any problems with it. Make sure to get it around 5-6k for it to be a white light any less will have a yellow tint to it and any more will become purple.

As long as they are aimed properly, there should be no problems with them.

By the time I'm done my car though, I will have retrofitted projectors anyways and will have HIDs in my dipped beams and high beams

For a good quality set at a low price, look at DDM tuning in the states. They offer a lifetime warranty on bulbs and ballasts as well. I have the slimline set and have had it for almost 5 years with no problems what-so-ever.
