Spare tyre Size

Radon question really... Am i right to assume the spare tyre should be the same size as those on the car?

The reason I ask is I bought 2 new tyres today (Budget Kuhmo Esctas as I'm broke before Christmas).
I knew the spare tyre had never been used and as I really needed 4 new tyres I had thought about buying a single tyre, the same as the spare and putting these on the car. I went out to check it and its a 175/65/r14.

Im slightly confused

It technically should be, or atleast the same rolling radius.

Car companies get round it though by saying dont exceed 50mph. 99% of new cars come with spacesavers now anyway.

Edit. Just compared the 2 sizes guessing you have 205/45/17'S? and the rolling radius isn't massivly different

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
205/45-17 3.6in 12.1in 24.3in 76.2in 831 0.0%
175/65-14 4.5in 11.5in 23.0in 72.1in 879 -5.4%

yeah they have a temporary use spare, a 2054517 wont fit in the spare wheel well unfortunatly, if you have a zs 180 the spare wont fit over the front breaks so you have to put the spare on the rear and swap the rear onto the front if you have a puncture on either of the front wheels
