Heat problems

I've got a problem with my cars heating, I don't seem to have any form of heat coming out speeds 1 and 2, speeds 3 and 4 work fine, at the same time it's blowing cold air and not heating up at all......
Also the cars fan seems to be kicking in a lot more now.....
Any ideas?

Mk1?
is 1&2 pushing air at all?
Might be a stuck heater valve in the engine bay, can you turn the heater knob fully?
May be an airlock but do the simple stuff first

Do you have all 4 blower speeds working? Might want to check the thermostat.

As above if you've lost fan speed 1 & 2 it'll very likely be the resistor pack on the top of the heater box, a very easy job to change them, it's worth doing the pollen filter while your in the area as well.

If you have no heat, check the cable is still connected to the heater box, there's a Blue one a Black one, they sometimes come adrift, you can check from the drivers footwell

1 and 2 not working usually means the resistors have packed up. Happened on my ZS and the wifes ZR. Quite an easy job to replace them, I think some one did a "how to" on here.

I've sorted the lack of heating out, it was my slack maintenance regime
As to setting 1 and 2, my girlfriend has the same problem on her TF so we'll try and get new resistors for both of them......

For the resistors, change the original items for ceramic resistors - they'll last the life of the car.
Kit available here: Ceramic Resistor Kit - Rover 200/400/25/45/ZR/ZS/F/TF

Nice and simple to fit, and done for life.
