Finally some good news!

Right, this all came up under the conversation tonight 'being 21 makes sod all difference to your insurance premium'

So after a mass debate () I said I'd go on confused.com type in my details as the currently are asif I was insuring the Zed for the first time and set it to 20 with 1ncb (which is what I am and have)

Best price is - £2142 (I'm paying less than that but it doesn't matter)

Now using the exact same details but 21 with 2ncb (which it'll be when I renew in August)

Ready?

£1051.55 !!!!!!!

HALFED?!

But the thing is, 2 of my friends protested it made almost no difference for them, £100-£150 at most. But both of them live in the middle of nowhere (one in Dorset, the other on the outskirts of Manchester)

Where as I live in a well built up area which isn't exactly great for it's car insurance quotes. I remember my sister turning 21 and it almost halfed for her.

Either way, I can't wait till renewal...and I'm now gonna run Scooby quotes

I find it staggering the costs being mentioned to insure cars these days. Even when I was younger running unusual cars I never payed silly money like people do today. Just shows how congested our roads are and even when off road it is still busy trying to park safely. Good to see it gets cheaper Jake, but still alot of money but I suppose for the group rating, age and level of ncb it is better than most.

Insurance premiums are a pecular thing that seems to make no sense.

I'm 34, and my ZS180 costs me nigh on £600 a year to insure. My biggest issue is that I have been on a fleet policy for far too many years (all my other cars are on it as well), and have two years NCB for the MG policy, yet despite my excellent fleet driving record, insurance companies do not take this in to account - at all - despite various companies claims that they look after ex fleet drivers.

Grrr Grrrr Rant Rant!!!

The 2yr NCB will be affecting that also though, so would have been better to just try it at 20 and 21 with all the other bits the same (since age is whats being questioned.)

Age DOES make a difference though, the 'main' ages affecting premiums being 21 and 25 IIRC. NCB makes a larger impact though.

When my insurance renews it will be £900, age 22 with 2yr NCB.

Would like a Scooby / Mustang for my next car. Mustang is more tempting though as there are less of them about...

Make sure you try specialist company's for your insurance guys, I'd recommend Adrian Flux.

They've been in business absolutely years and specialise in modified/import cars.

I've just got a quote for the MG (and will be accepting it on the 18th next month) with the following modifications:
180 brake setup (with EBC components)
Modified induction
de-cat
stainless exhaust

£420

22, driving 4yrs, 4yrs NCD

Was paying £860 last year with another company
