becauase they have got a good filtration/restrication rate, they bolt directly onto the intake pipe above the MAF, and it is the biggest you can fit without anything getting fouled.
For me as quantity of air in is more important that quality temp (rally spec intercooler), it was not worth the costs of getting maxogen etc.
Eventually i will put the battery in the boot and build a custom enclosed filter instead, but for now not worth the effort for the few ponies difference.
