i have owned the 180 for about 6 months and have regually got 260 miles out of a full tank. but the last 3 tanks i have only just got 200. i do the exact same drive every week at the same speeds. does any body know what could cause the sudden drop in economy

have you checked things like airfilter, plugs, tyre pressure and VIS valves?

I can average 320-340 to a tank and that's with a mixture of driving. Try changing your driving style, no need to hammer it everywhere.
But make sure everything is tip top and in full working order.

I'm the same, about 300 - 320 out of a tank with mixed driving
If the VIS valves are on the way out you'll need a bit more throttle to get the power you want, so that might account for the drop

If you are on the M27/A31 you should be getting into the 320 area if cruising at 70. I drive from Horndean to Bordon on the A3 at 70, then on the A325 into Farnham A31, then the A331 into Aldershot with mixed traffic and speeds, sometimes +70 I don't think I have ever even been near the 250 per tank mark, but then again if I pop a tenners worth in then sometimes it will go quicker if I take it for a country lane blast.

Without knowing you or the car it is difficult to pinpoint the cause.
What are you up to today? There's a mini meet at the Halfords car park in Park Gate at 2:30 today if you want to come along as I will go to say hello.
