I'm going to be honest here and say my ZS TD I had for three years, it was the most unreliable car I have ever owned (I've had my ZS180 for the last 5 years or so )

However that was a one off by the looks of things!!

There are two levels of TD, a 101 and a 115. I recomend a 115 (easiest way to tell is the Discs at the rear - 101 has drums) as its quicker, more torque (than a 180) and keeps the same economy.

ZS is the only one I know thats had an unrealiabel one, I've had my one for nearly 3 years, great car, first derv I've owned and would buy another one.

Mk 2, 115 and all the body kit of the 180, only ?125 road tax a year, ins less as well.

Few tweaks and you can get 130 - 145 bhp plus plenty of torque.

Check if the belts have been done, if not knock the price down a bit.

Only trouble I've had is sticking rear caliper, that needed new disks and pads, should go well after 1500 revs when the turbo kicks in.

MAF sensor can give trouble but can be sorted easily, cant think of much else that gives trouble.

Best of luck with the search and hope you get a good one.

Hi i have had my ZS TD for 6mths now and can honestly say she is the best TD i have owned, only major problem i have had was my down pipe needed to be replaced. As everyone else has said 115+ is the best model to go for and check that the belts have been done. Good luck.

mine has been slightly unreliable, but mainly due to be squeezing over 170bhp and 270lbsft out of it and bolting a few extra bits onto it.

if you need the economy due to high miles but still want a good drive, then get a derv ZS.. there is possibly one over on .org that is a MK1 going for sale... (owner deciding on keeping the derv or the 620ti)
