oil feed pipe to vacuum pump

Hi just asking about the oil pressure feed pipe for the l series brake vacuum pump. The one on my zs was leaking badly and I made a temporary repair, next the alternator packed in so I got the alternator off my scrap 400 but the pipe on it was brittle and snapped off at pump end,so I managed to drill out old union and pipe stub then tapped the hole 1/8 npt and fitted a hose tail ,cut a bit off the length of the pressure pipe, now im going to get apiece of 4mm id hose and fit from hose tail to the existing pipe, another 1 hour job lasted all afternoon. I tried various places rimmers, matty price but new pipes are scarce to come by,is it just me that has had this or is it a common fault, many thanks Allan
