Thinking of having the MG "track" experience...

Ok, well a while ago, before I was even looking to buy a ZS, I saw that my local race track offer a Driving School where you can choose either a ZS180 or ZR160 and be given some track time - with an instructor to guide you.

I planned on signing up for it but the price put me off and I forgot about it.

Today though, I went down to the circuit to watch a guy from my old car's Owner Club race his car, and it got me thinking again.

So do you think this would be something worth spending £175 on?

You get:

4 laps to famliliarize yourself with the track in a 180 (instructor driving I think);
8 laps with you at the wheel of the 180, with instructor on board to give advice;
8 laps in a single seater race car (I think you can ask to stay in the 180 instead);
6 laps in an MGF to finish off

Its quite a lot of money, but I thik it would be a load of fun! Especially since Ive never driven on a track before

If it wasnt so expensive, could have made a cool meet too, but its probs too far away from most folk anyway

£175....Hows that a rip off??????

Seems a very good price for what you get!!!

Is it a good track?
Would be a bit like driving your own car around though (in the 180)

Because you get some decent on track instruction and you don't risk your own car, seems like a good price to start your track day experiences to me.

Your forgetting the tuition, MGF and one seater as well and 26 odd laps in total !!!. Its not just a ZS180. Plus the ZS is a great car to take round the track anyway...... You dont get to drive on the road like you do on the track and when its in someone elses ZS even better .

You can pay £100 to do only a few lap in a Ferrari.
You will learn a lot more doing this. Sounds like a great learners course for the money!

i was pissed when i typed that response matey :lol:

I still personally think the price it cost still is a lot, i can understand that driving the same car with tuition would help you to understand the charactristics of the 180 a lot more but IMO again if youre not used to it by now and dont kno its limits you aint driving the 180 hard enough.

I don't think its costs that much for what you get. What track is it?

Why not sign up to a track day here at mgs-on-track then look out for an open venue near you. You can get track time nearly all day depending on who is there open pit lane etc. Instructors can be hired for a small fee and at least you get a good day in your own car.

No need to worry about the other drivers as there are rules to abide by and everyone is using their own cars as well, so no racing!

Nothing lost by turning up and watching what goes on or even pay for a passenger ride if you can tie up with someone else who is going.

Just a thought.
