Mg zt gearboxes

What can people tell me about the zt box and its difference to a zs, my old zt as I remember seemed to have a really good gear ratio and I wondered about its uses in terms of a racing zs, I'm guessing it's probably made better than a zs 180s anyone got ratios and diff options etc and no of anyone who's used one for a racing zs/zr?

The zt doesn't use a pg1 box like the zs so a bit of tinkering may be required to make it fit a zs.

A few obvious differences, the zt box is cable change, the engine mount is different on the zt box, I think it might be a lot of work fitting one to a zs

If the zt engine bolts directly onto a zs gearbox why not the other way round?

A zt engine doesn't bolt directly to a zs box.

The zt and zs use different adaptor plates, so as a start you'd need a zt adaptor plate to attach a zt box to a zs engine

Have you considered the 620ti gearbox? This uses the same bolt pattern as the ZS and apart from a lifting eye and a different mounting bracket it's a direct replacement!

They should have fitted this gearbox to the ZS at the factory!

Don't mention the dual mass flywheel on the ZT.

Anything is possible at acost but I wouldn't bother with this, you'll be messing with the clutch hydraulics, gear change, drive shafts, hubs, brakes, ABS.................

For all the info you want on the PG1 go to www.rovertech.net
