Private Plate Info
Can anyone help. Thinking about selling the motor and have my private plate on there. If I leave it on the car when I sell it, as it is worth about £400 so might give me a bit more cash on sale, what paperwork do I need to pass on or fill in etc when I sell it.

It depends on what the plate as if it will add to the sale price.

To be honest it will probably give me more cash off the car, but the cheeky barstewards are now charging £105 to keep hold of my own plate (off the car) that I bought with my own actual money!! grrrrr!
That does wind me up.

My wife paid 80quid to have her put on a retainer when she sold her last car, it was given its old plate back and she put the private one on her new civic. So its pretty easy to keep them however the retain is only valid for a year

But you can keep it longer, just have to pay a bit more.
Do 1, 2, or 3 years. Bit cheaper, longer you pay.
Just have to remember to renew it or you can lose it.

you will need to give them the retention form, mot, log book and the details of the tax disk have to go on the retention form too. exp date and tax disk serial number. also it has to be either taxed or within 6 months of the last valid tax disc exp date
