Im an ancient 43!!!!!!!!!!! My pay is crap,, cos my firm pays such a low salary and hypes it up with bonus, ok in old days when people had their Fords serviced at our garage.
I earnt ?150 less month than the same month last year........And for 2010 we had a 0% pay rise. Still find the dosh to keep my ZSthough. It keeps me sane.

That sounds so very sad but true for some of us, I can't justify paying 425 quid for a car too tax for a year plus other running costs and insurance!
I earn fairly good money, but I am single at the mo, and have a mortgage to pay, plus bills etc, I have had too cut back already on some luxuries, I hope the 180 won't have too go? Still looking for a rich lady in her forties to take me under her wing! lol

Personally I wouldn't say i earn a huge wage... but its certainly not crap! (mid to late 20's) I'm 28 in a couple weeks and have a mortgage, rent, car finance and bike finance to pay.
On top of that I'm a single father of two (living with me, 3 and 4 years old) and my family are scattered around the UK (plymouth, bristol, London etc) so no short journeys for me
However, I will not let this government dictate what car I can drive! I've had this 8 year old ZS180 for 5 years now, and I damn well intend to keep it!

Too right! It's just such a pity the zs only sits in the top bracket by 2g!! It's hardly a supercar. It does tempt me in to getting janspeed manifolds, if I going to be payin for emissions may as well make the most of it!

TBF, I can't see why the emissions are classed as so high? My MOT's all say its less than that and under the new measurement system its more like 218g... or so I'm told anyway...
Honestly I think the government should change a cars band based on last MOT... That way people would be forced to look after their cars more or pay more in tax... But hey its all a scam to get as much money as possible out of people!!!

Too right there Mr ZS!
surely theres some way to show the tax people what your REAL emissions is?
my 120 is always MUCH lower then expected!!
but then my 120 will be ?180 for the year so im not complaining much
But i cant see how a "Road Tax" can be based on Emissions? as emissions in no way equate to the likely use/damage to our roads... so yeah, big old government scam!

Because its no longer "Road Tax" its an environment Tax (AKA VED)...
Besides last I heard the money made on VED is given to the NHS... to fund all the foreigners health care!!

As far a I believe it a 5th of road tax is spent on the roads the rest as said goes to other services and to help fund wars abroad!!
