Ive heard of cutting springs before but not that, Its not quite as simple as squashing the springs.
Also Id be cautious of what the heat does to the properties of the metal.

I bought some motobuld springs for my 120 off ebay for ?80iirc (never used too) then sold my zs springs for ?50 that was quite a result

I wouldnt go for that option i would only buy the springs that are already lowered . Heating springs up and compressing them cant be good its gotta weaken the spring somehow i,m sure i wouldnt trust it anyway not a chance
