tyre profiles

hya folks in desperate need of two back tyres,been offered two 205/40/17s but i have two 205/45/17s on the car,i know your not meant to do this but why,any folk out there tell me,cheers guys!

hey andy, if you change your aspect ratio(thats the 0/45 bit) thats the sidewall height, so effectively your putting smaller wheels on it, and it will have a smaller rolling diameter, so the back will ...say for instance be doing 1.2 revolutions for every 1 the front is doing
it can mess your abs up a bit, it might kick in the wrong time ect, its more of an issue on 4x4 as it winds the gearbox up inside and breaks it
might be problems on insurance as well if you have a crash, its not illegal but insurance may question, i dont know never heard or seen it
can get 205/45/17 hankooks for about ?60-70 a piece,, they fill the arches a lot better as well 40 profiles look tooo small in the gap
might knock your speedo out a tad as well, be going slower than it says

dont know what width wheels you have but i opted to go to 215-40-17, cheaper than 205-45's and give you about the same size wall as the 45's
