I spent 6 weeks on a summer job as assistant in the maintance department of a factory - ?70 a week.
Then I got a full time job as an assistant in the mail room of a company producing trade magazines - ?40 a week,
that lasted a month and I then started as an export clerk on ?2400 p/a
All in 1983/4

My first job was when I was 14, working in the local butchers on a saturday, cleaning the back of the shop & other grim chores, including gutting the the birds at Christmas. I worked 12hrs every sat & got ?10 & all the pigs eyes I could dig out.

I worked at Blairdrummond safari park while I was at school at the summer and weekends, then worked for Royal Mail for a month over xmas - again while still at school
My first proper job was the one I'm in now, working offshore. I did my first trip just before my 18th birthday and I've been doing it ever since!
