Ahhh just off Junction 19 M4 IIRC - I'm frequently in Thornbury (Dad lives there) and used to work in Clevedon (which meant a lot of travel around Bristol) - Hell of a commute from Portsmouth!!

Nah... only took an hour and a half...
Well before the A34 roadworks started... and before the stupid Speed cameras on the M4 anyway....

I'm not a great expert but it does sound like top end and from the video sounds louder at the front.
What do you mean by the bolt is threaded? Is it turning with out winding out? If so remove the other 4 and then apply light pressure on it from the back.

Yer just spins its one of the more awkward ones to get too and didnt have time to mess about with it, will probably investigate further tomorrow. The video is deceptive it sounds more like its coming from the rear.

How long has it made the noise? Is it getting worse? It sounds cam related now i,v heard it through headphones. It's a horrid sound. It's possibly a cam follower or two? Were the cams run in correctly?

Had the noise for quite a while now to be honest, probably a year plus, not changed in that time. The cams were in the car when I bought it, then swapped over when the engine was replaced, probably about 2 years ago. Once warm it disappears.
Think the video makes it sound worse tbh although does sound like a diesel tapping away.

As it had the cams when you cot it but swapped them, is it possible the followers got mixed up? It really does sound like a cam to me. If it's not got worse then don't worry.
