I give up.
After all the issues with the car, it's still in the garage, I had to borrow one for a 400 mile round journey up north. Anyway park the car up, paid my £2 in the machine next to the car and when I get back there's a ticket. £150 for parking in a 'wrong' bay. Fuming as I just haven't got the cash. I've took photos and will appeal but just fed up with motoring and the costs in general. If the car is an expensive fix I'm thinking of getting rid and just using the motorbike all year round. Rant over and i'll try to enjoy the rest of my holiday!

Is it a council car park or one of those private ones? If that were me I would tell them to whistle for the £150 and see them in court, this robbery cannot continue.

Seconded
If you have photos to prove bad or missing signs then let them take you to court!!

I did this when the wife got stitched up, told them to whistle for it, never heard from them again. They prey on the weak.

Private car park. The fact I'm 200 miles away works in my favour I guess?

If the laws in the UK are similar to Ireland, and probably they are, then private companies have no official right to fine you.
I got clamped in a private carpark a couple months back. 120€ "release fee". No thanks, I'll remove it myself. I dropped the clamp (undamaged) into the local police station lost & found and haven't heard anything about it since.
In most cases, these private companies won't go as far court because the risk that they lose a case which could set a precedent against their corrupt practices.
If it's a council fine then it's a different story.

I'd be pissed off too, having paid £2 to park when they cant enforce any fines. Cheeky bastards.
I have had issues with the uni car park giving me tickets on a regular basis. Last few weeks Ive unclipped my numberplate so they cant register it on their system! Wonder how long till I have to use the bolt cutters I have in the boot!

I got "done" by a private company when doing the FRL thingy, basically just ignore all letters from them, do not respond what so ever, they will threaten with court action, but want go through with it, in the end they just give up.
If you don't respond they will go away quicker as they only know where the car is registered and not who was driving, so not responding makes in nigh impossible for them to do ought about it.
So in summary, don't worry just ignore it.
PS Only the police and council officials (traffic wardens) can enforce a parking ticket, not a private company.
