Didn't know lighting had gone out of fashion, it will still be on my Maestro when it makes it back on the street.

I was reading an old copy of "Classic Cars" yesterday, in 1949 Buick's head of design, Ned Nickles installed amber backlights behind the fake air vents on the bonnet of his Buick Roadmaster 79 stationwagon to give the impression of flames, a la the engine of a P51 Mutang fighter plane. Buick boss, Harlow Curtice liked the look so ordered the vents be installed on the production model, sans back lights, by 1951 they had been blanked from behind so were truely for apperance only.

Can't say I have really followed any particular car scene and had such mods. I can vaguely remember jacking bars for rear leaf springs, however I doubt if we will ever see them again! Pin stripes is another plus those Grant bodykits. I say bring back big carbs and ditch fuel injection! I miss the sound of open trumpet twin 48s!
