Why the diesel is just as quick, more easily tunable and much much more economical.

I agree, i had a rover 25 tdi and loved it, rapid tuned up and indeed economical, loved it and really regretted it when i got shut.. was just a jokey comment.

Got to disagree there. Just because it has the same torque figure does not make it as fast. 0-60 is far slower, 0-100 is even more slower and the all important in gear times are slower too. Plus by the time the diesel has reached it's torque figure, it's nearly out of revs. The 180 has several thousand more RPM's to play with. Take them on a race track together and then see just how much faster the 180 is ! I'll give you the fuel quote though, you're right on that !!
