Are your rear calipers working ok Mick ?, they cause more handbrake issues than the cables.

Calipers are fine as tested them. With the console removed you can see what the cables are doing and the nearside is not as free as the offside, plus with the caliper end disconnected you can easily pull the offside cable in/out and not so on the offending side. Plus operating the cable linkage at the caliper end they both actuate with ease and hold the disc.
Probably a cheap part but with the need to remove the underside shields and exposing tunnel grommits it'll be a pita no doubt.

Yep. I'll look at this another time, had enough working under it lately, just won't park on steep hills!

I have some wooden ones I use for trackdays as the handbrake doesn't get used during the day.
Which reminds me, I was hoping to fit in one or two before the year is out then found out I only had 1/2 day holiday left, apparently I used my quota of bereavement days then had to take holiday! Them feckers at ACAS think 3 days is sufficient for losing a parent!

That's not good, my employer, who are as tight as wheel nut fitted by kwik fit asked if 2 weeks was enough, no mention of using holiday, when my mum died.
