Ordered some service items and thought I'd change the pollen filter too - good decision - 1st time I reckon. The filter started off white !



Having read up on it, it may contribute to your fans not delivering as much air so taking longer to demist etc, the quality of that air being poor, and puts additional stress on your motor as being clogged up the air doesn't go through as easily. Not sure how true all that is to be honest, looking at the state of mine though, I don't doubt it. Got to be worth the £14 genuine OE MG/Rover replacement.

Beware of the £5 copies on ebay though - they don't fit ....

Can't go out and do car stuff without a coffee on the go....

Unfortunately half the crud from the filter fell in it when I pulled it out ... it was off for a refill when I took the pic ...

Took advantage of the good weather and went to see my mate to do paint the brake calipers.

They were all kinda like this before -



And now like this - black brushed on caliper paint and ebay decals -




Not all easy peasy though - found this on the front driver side -



But - a phone call to a local motor factor got the replacement for £7 - and after some thumping around - all good



Got some bits through today too, but they are for fitting and showing off later this week when the last bit turns up ....

Yes indeedy ... and luckily it was a case of finding it and sorting it today rather than having to get into a garage and pay their labour charges to do it ... All it'll cost me is a 6 pack and a curry ...

yip thats a great result dan as pete sayed just caught that in time,did you take the back breaks off to paint them or leave then on,they look good

Nah mate - brakes stayed on there - just took the wheels off and just painted the surface after a good wire brushing. I'd have rather stripped them down and changed the discs and pads but they are fine and it would've been unnecessary.

We had also planned to do some servicing - oil change and the plugs - but when we found the gaitor was fubarred, fixing that took priority and what time we had.
