No they didnt, the Mk2's have next to nothing underseal on them either.

I think mines just a bit of surface rust. Looks like maybe a stone chip (on the erm, roof ) that came to rust.
What bothers me more is my fuel tank, which Im going to be undersealing on the next sunny weekend. Theres an uncomfortable amount of surface rust on there. Might as well do the arches while Im at it, too.

That is shocking Kev, obviously a bad one from the factory bodged and passed by QA, a bit daft as it would still have been covered if it hadn't gone tits up.

theyre all the same matey im so tempted to take mine work one weekend and spray the thing with wax oil
even have a correct tool to do it with

I put a wire brush over a Hillman Hunter fuel tank to get the rust off before undersealing. Guess what, ended up with a new tank!!
