i used normal primer ,paint and lacquer. 3 coats of each and jobs a goodun. just be careful not to put to much paint on at a time. thin mist coats and allow to dry properly, and you cant go wrong

thats how i did mine, looked good untill the wind caught the bonnet and slammed on the engine cover whilst it was off the engine lol

If I have any brake caliper paint left, will this do for the engine cover?

Yer should be fine, Did mine today in blue but looks wrong as its not trophy blue and doesnt match the blue of the induction hoses so going to redo it tomorrow in red lol
