I've just heard a TV ad where McDonalds are boosting they are using bio diesel.

The big problem with ethonol in diesel is that it is highly flamable, unlike diesel!

More likely to cause predetination, Would be a similar system to HCCI. Where the mixtures sparks by itself.

Sure the L-series will be fine, seems like there are very few manufactures that cant handle the E10. Sure the diesel will be the same, still a few years away anyway.

I admit I don't get much of the stuff under the hood of a diesel, Although surely it would need to compress the air/fuel mixture? So could in theory detinate before the mixture is meant to combust.

nah diesel compresses just air, then it injects the fuel directly into the cylinder at the point of ignition, the hot compressed air(air heats up as it compresses(charles' law)) is the right temp to make the diesel combust, diesels have a much higher compression ratio than petrol
