Fill the tank to the top.
Zero the trip meter.
Drive.
Re fill the tank to the top.
Note how many litres you put in.
Note how many miles you did between fills.
Get the calculator out.

Number of litres divided by 4.55 gives you gallons.
Divide the number of miles by number of gallons.
There is you answer.

i know in mine that i got about 8L when the light is on constantly - and it flickers for a while until it is on completely...

on a good day that is about 80miles still on an excellent days closer to 100... a bad day about 50

Never fill it up to the top that's the problem! The gauge is always towards the wrong end, the gauge does seem to be the most random of any car I've ever owned.

Although did run out of petrol a few times when I first started driving in my 1988 metro.That could have been my fault for never putting any petrol in it ever.
