A fantastic point. It highlights the stupidity when a car that is EXACTLY the same as all the others before it gets mega tax just because of it's registration date.

Hmm. So now many newer reg cars are going to lose a piece of their value (all be it a small piece) because of the rate that applies to them. Older cars of the same model and mileage might now be worth more? Well done government, always making these good-sense changes

Especially as the ridiculous increases on retrospective tax on cars (applying to cars pre March 2006) is looking very likely to be reversed.

^^^^^ GRRR!!

It defies all logic though as you all say, if i had bought the SAME car a year earlier I would pay less.

My other car is a 3 tonne Mercedes V Class with a 2.3 petrol Auto, I would fancy that to be more harmful to the environment!

Oh yeah, that is due this month too!

I've allways fancied buying a 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500... Then drive to the houses of parliament, no congestion charge (too old), no tax (too old) and rev the nuts off the car outside the doors of parliament! - Perfectly legal
